Stay Tax on Apartment Rental and Hotel Stay

The city of Venice introduced a tourist tax on apartments, as well as on hotel rooms and bed and breakfasts, on 24 August 2011. The funds collected are earmarked for maintaining and restoring Venice's endangered heritage.

The amount of the tax, which is set per day and per person, varies according to the age of guests, the length of stay, the category of the flat and also the seasons, high and low, whose dates, determined by the city, may differ from those chosen by the owners whose flats we offer on e-Venice.com.

The tourist tax only applies to over 10s and is limited to the first 5 days, from the 6th day onwards, the tax is no longer collected.

A reduced rate applies to children aged 10 to 16.
