Bona Pieyre De Mandiargues (1926-2000)

Bona Pieyre De Mandiargues née Tibertelli, niece and pupil of Filippo de Pisis, accompanied him to Paris in 1947.

She was then totally drawn into the surrealist movement, magic, dreams, sexuality and the occult.

The work presented at La Corderie is an assembly of fabrics from a man's suit, which she dismembers here, creating a bull's head domesticated by the woman.

We should also remember that the bull's head is the Surrealists' most important symbol.
