Paolo Fantin »Alloro - Lympha », Daphné et Apollon à la Venice Biennale Art Exhibition
Paolo Fantin was born in 1981 in Castelfranco, Veneto; he lives and works in Italy. His work is exhibited in the Venezia Pavilion of the Giardini Biennale.
“Alloro” (Laurel) is the title of the exhibition at the Padiglione Venezia (the Venetian Pavilion).
This title is accompanied by a quote illustrating the idea of change and metamorphosis in nature and in art: “Everything changes, nothing dies, everything flows and every image is born of movement.”
“Alloro” refers to Ovid's Metamorphoses, where Daphne can only escape Apollo's love pursuit by metamorphosing herself into a laurel tree.
The metamorphosis of a being as its passage from one state to another, where it changes and appears in a new form, originally belongs to myth and magic.
The work on display is a metamorphosis that begins in the meditative soul of a woman sitting in an immaculate, sanitized place, leading to her rooting in the original land.
It is an exhibition “in motion” that begins by entering a kind of temple of femininity created in duo by Goldschmied and Chiari.
The spectator will move through the pieces according to the rhythm of the music, which will lead him to reflect on himself.
A modern version of the myth of Daphne and Apollo by Paolo Fantin with the group Ophicina, to music entitled “Laurel Drops” by maestro Pino Donaggio.
Paolo Fantin is a renowned scenographer trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice; he created the scenographies for various best-known works of opera that have been performed at La Fenice, Salzburg, Zurich, Vienna, Madrid, London, Paris and Rome.
