Estudio A0 Surfacing A year ago, mineral deposits were discovered using LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology for gold prospecting by digitally removing forest cover in the Amazon rainforest and the ruins of megacities in the Amazon.

Those who the European conquerors called the savages of the Amazon, thanks to remote sensing, became the inhabitants of a country of intertwined constellations of agroecological urbanism.

The mapping carried out by LiDAR technology shows the existence in these ancient megacities of a network of causeways, canals joining rivers and even suburbs.

Cities showing social organization and landscape engineering practices that challenge the idea of a completely wild Amazon forest.

Thus, 26 ancient and vast sites with complex architectural structures have already been discovered.

But deforestation risks jeopardizing the sites discovered.

The Estudio A0 design agency's project “Surfacing - The Civilized Agroecological Forest of the Amazon” aims to try to preserve this historical and cultural heritage of the Amazon.

The Arsenal exhibition features woven cones suspended from the ceiling and tapestries representing ancient agroecological urbanisms and various civilizations of the Amazon Basin.
